Where can we go kayaking ?

Based just outside Galway City we are in an ideal location for kayak tours on Galway Bay and only a short drive from the many fantastic kayaking locations in Connemara, Co. Mayo and Co. Clare.

We also run tours on the beautiful Lough Corrib and Corrib River which provide ideal conditions for kayaking all year round and are only 10 minutes drive for Galway City.

As a mobile business we can plan a custom tour if you have particular places you would like to explore by kayak.

What if I haven’t kayaked before?

No problem, beginners are always welcome. We cater to people of all abilities and plan your session to suit your abilities. We want you to enjoy your first time in a kayak, that’s our goal.

Is it safe?

Safety is our number one priority. As qualified instructors we are fully trained in rescue techniques and first aid. Each trip is designed to best suit the abilities of our customers and the sea/weather conditions at the time. Instructors carry VHF radios to keep updated with the weather forecast. We operate on a low instructor/client ratio. We use high quality modern equipment.

Do I have to be able to swim?

No, you will be wearing a buoyancy aid at all times and always accompanied by an instructor. Feel free to contact us if you have any concerns.

What do I need to wear/bring?

• A warm hat and on brighter days a peaked hat, sunglasses and sun cream.
• Old runners or wetsuit booties, something you don’t mind getting wet.
• Shorts or swimwear and long sleeve top/fleece to wear under the wetsuits.
• A change of clothes and a towel.
• If you are going on a longer trip bring some food and a drink.

What equipment do you supply?

At Give It A Go we provide all our clients with:

Sea kayaks (a choice of single or double kayaks), paddles, buoyancy aids, windproof jackets, wet suits and spray decks.

We can also provide dry bags if needed.

What is the oldest/youngest age limit?

We use both single and double (tandem) kayaks. The double kayaks are ideal for groups or families of mixed ages. Last year our customers ranged in age from 4 to 79 years old! 

What does it cost?

Cost per three hour session €45, Under 16's €25.

Full Day session: €80, Under 16's €60
